Provide shelter, education and a future for orphans, women and vulnerable children in Nouakchott

🚨 Urgent call for solidarity

Today, in , many orphans, vulnerable children, abandoned women, widows, elderly people and impoverished families live in extremely difficult conditions, often without access to secure housing, education, healthcare or even regular food.

In some precarious neighbourhoods and remote areas, children are left to fend for themselves, exposed to begging, exploitation, dropping out of school and great social precarity. Many vulnerable women also find themselves without support or guidance.

Every day, children in a situation of abandonment or great vulnerability need urgent care and a secure environment capable of offering them protection, education, care and dignity.

Faced with this alarming situation, the AZIZA COEUR SAINT association, in partnership with Assistance Enfance Déshéritée, is launching a major humanitarian project:

🏗️ Construction of an accommodation and training centre in Nouakchott

This humanitarian centre will be built in Nouakchott, in the Tevragh-Zeina district, on a 1,000 m² plot of land, of which approximately 600 m² will be built.

The aim is to create a secure, educational, social and spiritual space capable of accommodating and supporting around 700 direct beneficiaries per year.

The project will be aimed in particular at:

- orphans,

- vulnerable children and children in a situation of abandonment,

- babies requiring urgent care,

- women in difficulty,

- widows,

- elderly people,

- as well as people with disabilities.

🎯 Project objectives

- Provide a safe and stable refuge for beneficiaries;

- Guarantee access to food, healthcare and education;

- Offer vocational training to women and young people;

- Promote the financial independence of mothers and widows;

- Prevent the exploitation and marginalisation of vulnerable children;

- Reduce the risks associated with the clandestine migration of young people;

- Distribute meals, food kits, clothing and medicines in disadvantaged neighbourhoods and remote areas;

- Offer spiritual and educational support through the mosque and the Mahadra.

🕌 Centre composition

The building will be composed of two levels:

Ground floor

- reception and orientation area,

- mosque and Mahadra,

- solidarity health centre,

- community kitchen,

- dining hall,

- educational and recreational spaces.

First floor

- secure accommodation for orphans, children and vulnerable women,

- classrooms and training rooms,

- rest and care spaces for infants,

- secure and monitored spaces for babies,

- additional Mahadra.

📚 Training and support

The centre will offer:

- sewing,

- craft,

- cooking,

- computing,

- management of small income-generating activities,

- literacy,

- language learning:

- Arabic,

- French,

- English,

- Spanish.

💰 Detailed and transparent use of funds

Estimated total amount: €400,000

In order to ensure clear, serious and totally transparent management of the project, the funds collected will be used directly for the construction, equipment, initial operation of the centre and humanitarian actions intended for the beneficiaries.

Every contribution will concretely help to build, equip, protect, feed, care for and support children, vulnerable women and families in need.

🏞️ 1. Land acquisition and preparation – €50,000

This part will allow:

- the acquisition of the 1,000 m² plot of land,

- administrative procedures,

- cleaning,

- site preparation,

- levelling and securing work before construction.

🏗️ 2. Construction of the main building – €200,000

This sum will cover:

- foundations,

- masonry,

- concrete,

- roofing,

- electrical and sanitary installations,

- doors and windows,

- ground floor and first floor work,

- accommodation spaces,

- training rooms,

- educational and community spaces.

This step represents the heart of the humanitarian project.

🕌 3. Mosque and Mahadra – €20,000

This part will finance:

- prayer mats,

- sound system,

- microphones,

- fans,

- air conditioning,

- religious educational equipment,

- Quran and Arabic language learning spaces.

The mosque and the Mahadra will play an important spiritual, educational and social role for the beneficiaries and the local community.

🏥 4. Solidarity health centre – €20,000

These funds will enable:

- the purchase of medical beds,

- first aid equipment,

- basic medical equipment,

- essential medicines,

- vaccination equipment,

- as well as health support for children, women and the elderly.

🍲 5. Community kitchen and dining hall – €10,000

This part will finance:

- kitchen equipment,

- utensils,

- ovens,

- refrigerators,

- food storage,

- as well as the organisation of meals for beneficiaries.

🛏️ 6. Furniture and equipment – €15,000

Donations will enable the purchase of:

- beds,

- mattresses,

- wardrobes,

- tables,

- chairs,

- desks,

- as well as the equipment necessary to welcome beneficiaries.

💻 7. Educational and computer equipment – €10,000

This sum will be used to finance:

- computers,

- printers,

- school supplies,

- teaching materials,

- as well as the tools necessary for training and learning.

⚡ 8. Electricity and energy – €5,000

In order to ensure the smooth running of the centre, the funds will enable:

- electrical installation,

- the purchase of a generator,

- as well as the equipment necessary for a stable energy supply.

🚑 9. Intervention vehicles and humanitarian actions – €50,000

This part is essential for emergency interventions and humanitarian actions in the field.

It will enable the acquisition of:

- an ambulance intended for the rapid care of vulnerable children and emergency situations;

- a 4x4 vehicle for food, medical and humanitarian distributions in disadvantaged neighbourhoods and remote areas.

These vehicles will also be used to transport beneficiaries, humanitarian missions and community support actions.

👩‍👧 10. Support for the autonomy of women and widows – €10,000

This aid will enable:

- support for micro-projects,

- financing of small income-generating activities,

- help mothers and widows to regain lasting financial independence.

📖 11. Training and learning – €10,000

The funds will finance:

- vocational training,

- literacy,

- language courses,

- educational activities,

- as well as support for beneficiaries towards social and professional integration.

📸 12. Transparency, monitoring and communication – €10,000

Because the trust of donors is essential, this part will enable:

- project monitoring,

- report production,

- photos and videos of the progress of the work,

- communication with donors,

- as well as complete transparency of the actions carried out in the field.

🌙 Use of Zakat

Funds from Zakat will be used exclusively to directly support beneficiaries in accordance with Islamic principles:

- distribution of food kits;

- access to drinking water;

- purchase and distribution of medicines;

- healthcare for children, women and the elderly;

- support for housing for abandoned mothers and widows in difficulty.

All donations will be subject to transparent monitoring with photos, videos and regular reports.
