What Donoor brings to your association

0% commission

No subscription and no Donoor commission. Only Stripe's fees apply, and your donors can choose to cover them.

The money goes to your association

Donations arrive in your association's Stripe account, then in its bank account. Donoor never holds the funds.

Everything in one place

Fundraisers, payment links, ticketing, memberships with member cards, shop and monthly donations, on the web and in the app.

Zuwendungsbestätigungen, with no manual work

If your association is exempted by its Finanzamt, switch on the service: Donoor issues the Zuwendungsbestätigung for each donation in your name and sends it to the donor.

  • On the official template, in German, with the amount in figures and in words and your recognised purposes (for example “Förderung der Religion”).
  • The scanned signature of your board (Vorstand) on every receipt, and the letter informing your Finanzamt that receipts are produced by computer, ready to send.
  • Tickets, membership fees and purchases excluded automatically: only donations get a Zuwendungsbestätigung.
  • Reminders 60 and 15 days before your Finanzamt notice expires: without a new notice, receipts stop.

Frequently asked questions

Is Donoor available to German associations?

Yes. Registered associations (e.V.) and gGmbHs based in Germany can create their account, collect donations by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, SEPA Direct Debit or Wero, and send Zuwendungsbestätigungen. The website, the app and the receipts are available in German.

How much does Donoor cost an association?

Nothing: no subscription and 0% Donoor commission. Only Stripe's fees apply, for example €0.35 for a SEPA Direct Debit donation, and your donors can choose to cover them.

Is a donation to an association tax-deductible in Germany?

Yes, if the association is exempted by its Finanzamt (exemption notice or, for a new association, a § 60a AO decision) or is a public-law corporation. Donors deduct their donations from their taxable income (Sonderausgaben, § 10b EStG), up to 20% of their income. Depending on their income, a €100 donation may cost them as little as €52.52 (top tax rate, solidarity surcharge included).

Is an official receipt required?

Yes: in Germany, the Zuwendungsbestätigung follows the official template of the Federal Ministry of Finance. Donoor issues it on that template, in German, after each donation and emails it as a PDF. For a donation of up to €300, a bank statement is also enough for the donor.

What does my association need to provide to switch on receipts?

Its latest Finanzamt notice (exemption notice or § 60a AO decision), the name of that Finanzamt, its tax number (Steuernummer), its recognised purposes and the scanned signature of a board member (Vorstand). Donoor gives you the letter informing your Finanzamt that your receipts are produced by computer: you send it, then enter the date you sent it.

How long is the Finanzamt notice valid?

An exemption notice allows receipts for 5 years from its date, a § 60a AO decision for 3 years. Donoor reminds you 60 and 15 days before the end; after that, receipts stop until you attach the new notice.

Can a mosque send Zuwendungsbestätigungen?

Yes, if it is exempted by its Finanzamt, usually for the “Förderung der Religion” (promotion of religion, § 52 AO): this purpose then appears on every receipt. Without an exemption notice, it collects donations with Donoor in the same way: QR codes, fundraisers, SEPA Direct Debit and Tap to Pay.

Does Donoor send a receipt for membership fees and tickets?

No. Donoor only issues a Zuwendungsbestätigung for donations with nothing in return: never for a ticket, a membership fee or a purchase; only a donation added to an order gets one.

Who is responsible for the receipts?

Your association: Donoor issues receipts in its name, with the information it provides. An incorrect receipt commits the association, which may owe the tax office 30% of the donation (§ 10b Abs. 4 EStG): that is why receipts stop as soon as the Finanzamt notice is no longer valid.

How do I register my association?

Create your association's account on Donoor, enter its register number (for example VR 12345) and its court (Amtsgericht), which the team checks, then connect Stripe to receive payments. PayPal is not yet available in Germany.
