Donoor generates the compliant Cerfa 11580 tax receipt and emails it to the donor after each donation, with no action required on your part. No more filling in tax receipts by hand at year-end: every online donation triggers the issue of the receipt, and an annual summary receipt can be produced per donor to make their tax return easier.

A donation to an organisation in the general interest entitles the donor to a 66% income tax reduction, up to 20% of taxable income (Article 200 of the CGI). In practice, a €100 donation costs the donor only €34 after the reduction. When declaring their donations to the tax authorities, the donor enters the total in box 7UF of their return — a point of generosity you can highlight on your fundraising pages.

Donations to help people in difficulty (providing meals, care or accommodation) qualify for a 75% tax reduction up to an annual ceiling, and 66% beyond it. The donor declares them in box 7UD. Donoor automatically applies the correct scheme based on the organisation's eligibility and issues the matching tax receipt.

60% corporate patronage

Corporate patrons benefit from a 60% reduction in corporation tax (article 238 bis of the CGI), up to €20,000 or 0.5% of turnover, whichever is higher. Tax relief on donations is therefore not reserved for individuals: an eligible organisation can issue a specific corporate tax receipt through Donoor, opening new funding sources from local businesses.

Sports & cultural

Clubs, troupes, music schools: turn membership fees and support donations into a tax benefit for your members, without adding to your treasurer's workload.

Humanitarian & social

Food aid, emergencies, social inclusion: the automatic tax receipt reassures your donors and encourages recurring donations, which are essential for organisations serving the public interest.

Eligibility

Who is entitled to issue tax receipts?

Not every organisation can issue receipts that entitle donors to a tax reduction. It must be a body serving the public interest within the meaning of Article 200 of the French General Tax Code: disinterested management, non-profit activity, and no operation for the benefit of a restricted circle of people. Religious organisations governed by the 1905 law have their own regime. If in doubt, a tax ruling (rescrit fiscal) lets you request an official position from the tax authorities, free of charge and binding.

  • Public interest: philanthropic, educational, scientific, social, humanitarian, sports, cultural…
  • Disinterested management and non-profit activity are mandatory
  • The tax ruling (BOI-SJ-RES-10-20-20-70) secures your eligibility

Tax reduction

66% or 75%: what your donor actually deducts.

The standard rate is 66%: a €100 donation effectively costs the donor only €34 after the tax reduction, up to 20% of their taxable income. Certain donations qualify for 75%: organisations providing assistance to people in difficulty (meals, care, housing) and, since 2021, donations to religious organisations, within the ceilings set by the finance law in force. It is a major fundraising argument: mentioning it on your materials measurably increases the average donation amount.

  • €100 donation → real cost €34 (66%) or €25 (75%)
  • Companies: 60% tax reduction for corporate patronage (article 238 bis CGI)
  • Any surplus can be carried forward over the following 5 years

The document

The Cerfa 11580 tax receipt, decoded.

A tax receipt is not a free-form document: the Cerfa 11580 template requires specific details, including the organisation's and the donor's full identification, the amount in figures AND in words, the date of the donation, the payment method, the nature of the donation, and the signature of an authorised person. Each receipt must bear a unique sequential number. An incorrectly completed receipt may be rejected during a donor audit and may engage the organisation's liability.

  • Unique, continuous numbering, year after year
  • Amount in figures and in words, date and payment method
  • Donoor automatically generates every compliant, numbered receipt

Best practices

Avoid losing the right to issue receipts.

Issuing receipts without being entitled to do so is costly: the penalty provided for by article 1740 A of the CGI equals the amount of the tax reduction wrongly obtained. Since 2022, organisations must also declare each year the total amount of donations and the number of receipts issued. Good habits: check your eligibility (rescrit ruling), number receipts rigorously, keep supporting documents for 6 years, and file your declarations on time.

  • Annual declaration of donations mandatory since 2022
  • Supporting documents kept for 6 years
  • With Donoor: receipt register kept automatically, nothing to reconstruct

Frequently asked questions

What is the tax reduction rate for a donation to an organisation?

66% tax reduction on the amount donated, up to 20% of taxable income, under Article 200 of the French General Tax Code (CGI).

How do I obtain a tax receipt for a donation to an organisation?

For eligible organisations (general interest, corporate sponsorship, religious organisations under the 1905 law) that have activated the service on Donoor, the tax receipt is generated and sent automatically by email after each donation. It complies with Article 200 of the CGI and can be used in your tax return.

How long are tax receipts kept?

All tax receipts are securely archived for 10 years and can be accessed at any time from your dashboard.

When is the tax receipt sent to the donor?

The receipt is generated and sent automatically by email to the donor as soon as their payment is confirmed, within seconds. No manual action is needed on your part: no entry, no sending, no follow-up.

Which organisations can issue tax receipts?

General-interest organisations recognised as being of public utility, eligible for corporate sponsorship (Article 238 bis) or religious organisations falling under the 1905 law. If your organisation is eligible and has activated the service, every donation automatically generates a compliant receipt.

Can you issue an annual summary tax receipt?

Yes. In addition to the receipts issued with each donation, your dashboard lets you generate an annual summary receipt for each donor, which is handy for regular donors when they file their tax return.

How do I declare a donation for tax purposes online?

Enter the total of your donations for the year in your income tax return: box 7UF for donations to organisations of general interest (66% tax reduction in France), box 7UD for organisations helping people in difficulty (75% up to the legal limit). Keep your tax receipts, as the tax authorities may request them. With Donoor, each receipt is sent automatically by email and can be reissued on request.

Can a company deduct a donation made to an organisation?

Yes, as corporate patronage (mécénat): a 60% tax reduction on the amount donated, up to €20,000 or 0.5% of turnover. The eligible organisation issues a specific company tax receipt (Cerfa 11580), generated automatically on Donoor.
