PlateformeWhy is it free?

Why Donoor is 100% free

No traps, no surprises. Donoor is free for all organisations. The only bank fees (Stripe or PayPal) are covered by donors 4 times out of 5. Result: you receive 100% of donations.

Donoor free for organisations

A mission above all

Donoor was born from a conviction: every organisation, whatever its size, deserves powerful fundraising tools. We refuse to let budget stand in the way of generosity.

Zero commission, zero subscription

No hidden fees, no monthly subscription, no commission on your donations. The only fees are those of your payment provider, Stripe or PayPal (~1.5% + €0.25 per transaction in France), and donors cover them 4 times out of 5.

The bank takes its cut, not us

Bank processing fees exist everywhere, whichever provider you use (Stripe, PayPal, SumUp…). The difference? Donoor adds no extra layer of fees. 100% of what remains after bank fees goes to your organisation.

A transparent, sustainable model

Our model relies on donors' optional tips (adjustable, €0 possible) and optional premium services (donation terminals, personalised support), which fund the platform's free access. Your organisation never pays any commission.

What are the contributions used for?

The “Support Donoor” button allows donors to voluntarily contribute to the operation of the platform. Here is how these contributions are used.

Funding the team

Developers, designers, support: a dedicated team works every day to improve Donoor and offer you the best possible experience.

Building new tools

Research, development of new features, integrations with other services: we invest so that Donoor is ever more useful.

Servers & infrastructure

Secure hosting, databases, CDN, monitoring: everything that keeps Donoor fast, reliable and available 24/7.

Supporting the community

Educational content, support for organisations, events: we support those who support others.

How Donoor stays profitable while being free

Our business model rests on 3 revenue sources, all optional and transparent, which allow the platform to operate without ever charging organisations.

Voluntary donor support

At the end of payment, the donor can add a contribution to Donoor. Off by default, shown separately from the donation to the organisation. About 1 in 4 donors choose to support it.

Optional premium services

Connected donation terminals, personalised support, digital fundraising training, bespoke integrations. Entirely optional, never imposed.

Institutional partnerships

Federations, local authorities and foundations that equip their network of organisations. No influence over product choices or data.

This model is viable because it does not depend on transaction volume of organisations: we are not tempted to take “just a small percentage” to grow our revenue. The free donation platform is our commitment, not a marketing argument.

The real hidden costs of “free platforms”

Several players claim to be free, but the devil is in the detail. Here are the common traps your donors often pay for without knowing it.

Funds held by the platform

Many platforms first collect on their own accounts and then pay out with a delay. At Donoor, donations arrive directly into the organisation's account via Stripe Connect or PayPal. Compare with HelloAsso.

Unabsorbed bank fees

“0% commission” is advertised, but the ~1.5% + €0.25 in bank fees are deducted from the organisation's donation. At Donoor, 80% of donors cover them in 1 click.

Transfer fees

€1–2 per operation per withdrawal. At Donoor, payouts go via Stripe Connect or PayPal, with no additional fee.

“Premium” subscriptions

Free plan limited to a basic page, while the rest (tax receipts, QR codes, team) requires a paid subscription. At Donoor: everything included at no cost.

Set-up / activation fees

Activating tax receipts, creating a fundraiser, integrations… some providers charge for every step. At Donoor: no activation fees, ever.

Why our founders chose this model

Donoor was founded on a deep conviction: digital fundraising should no longer be a luxury reserved for large NGOs. In France, more than 1.5 million organisations exist, of which 80% have an annual budget of less than €10,000.

These small organisations (sports clubs, faith communities, local humanitarian groups, parents’ associations…) form the social fabric of the country, yet they are systematically excluded from digital fundraising solutions because they cannot afford a subscription or significant commissions.

Donoor’s bet: to democratise digital fundraising by offering the same level of professional tools to every organisation, free of charge. A local mosque receiving €200 a month should have access to the same QR codes, automatic tax receipts and real-time dashboard as a multi-million-euro foundation.

Our lifetime free use guarantee

A contractual commitment written into our terms of use and legally binding.

Free access for life

Every organisation registered today keeps free access to the current features, for life.

No retroactive commission

We will never charge a retroactive commission on donations already collected.

Future features = strictly optional

Any premium development would be new and optional, without affecting the core service.

Export and migration if we stop

If Donoor ceased trading, you would receive a complete export of your data and migration support for at least 6 months.

You are free at any time to close your account and export your data, without penalty.

Frequently asked questions

Is Donoor really free, or is there a catch?

Donoor is completely free for organisations: no sign-up fees, no commission, no subscription. Our model relies on voluntary contributions from donors and optional premium services. You are never required to pay to use the platform.

How does Donoor fund its team and infrastructure?

Three complementary sources of income: (1) the voluntary “Support Donoor” button offered to donors, (2) optional premium services (terminals, support, training), (3) institutional partnerships with federations and local authorities.

What is the difference between bank fees and the Donoor commission?

Donoor takes no commission. The only fees are those of the payment provider chosen by the organisation: Stripe (1.5% + €0.25 in France) or PayPal (approx. 1.4% + €0.25), which cover the banking processing. On Donoor, your donors can cover these fees in one click, and 80% of them do, so you effectively receive 100% of the donation.

Is there a limit on the number of free donations?

No. Whether you raise €100 or €1 million a year, the Donoor service remains completely free. No tiers, no limits, no price changes.

Are all features included in the free plan?

All essential features are included: unlimited QR codes, Tap to Pay NFC, payment links, fundraisers, donation page, automatic tax receipts, real-time dashboard, team management, donor area, support in French.

What happens if Donoor decides to become paid one day?

We have made a contractual commitment that free access will not be retroactively withdrawn. Organisations registered today keep free access to the current features for life. Any pricing change would only apply to new, optional features.

Does Donoor sell donor data?

No, never. Donor data belongs to the organisation and is never sold, shared or used for commercial purposes. This is a contractual commitment written into our terms of use and guaranteed by our strict GDPR compliance.

How can I concretely compare the cost of Donoor vs HelloAsso?

Neither Donoor nor HelloAsso takes a commission from your organisation: in both cases, a tip is suggested to the donor to fund the platform, pre-filled but always editable and reducible to €0. The real difference with HelloAsso lies in the funds model: with Donoor, donations go directly into your organisation’s account via Stripe Connect or PayPal, with no reserve held back and no payout delay. Compared with platforms that take a real commission (Leetchi, KissKissBankBank, Donorbox…), the gap can reach several thousand euros a year. See the full comparison.
