Donations arrive in your association's Stripe account, then in its bank account. Donoor never holds the funds.
Fundraisers, payment links, ticketing, memberships with a member card, a shop and monthly donations, on the web and in the app.
In Malta, individuals cannot deduct their donations. The law does require a numbered receipt for every donation, and a company can get a tax credit: Donoor sends the receipt for you.

Yes. Any association based in Malta (sports club, band club, cultural or heritage group, social, environmental or animal welfare NGO, school, religious community) can create its account and use fundraisers, QR codes, Tap to Pay, ticketing, memberships and a shop. Donations are reserved for enrolled voluntary organisations (VO number), as Maltese law requires. The website and the app are available in English.
In Malta, only a voluntary organisation enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations (with a VO number) may collect donations from the public; anyone else needs a police licence. On Donoor, donations, fundraisers and Tap to Pay donations are therefore reserved for associations whose VO number has been checked. Memberships, ticketing and the shop are open to every association, even if it is not enrolled: selling tickets or collecting membership fees is not a public collection.
Type your organisation's name or its VO number (for example VO/1616): Donoor finds it in the Commissioner's official directory of enrolled organisations and checks it straight away, with no documents to send. Maltese letters are recognised: “ghaqda” finds “Għaqda”. If the number is not among the enrolled organisations (enrolment cancelled, unknown number), the Donoor team checks it. Your VO number is then shown on your page, as the law requires.
Nothing: €0 subscription and 0% Donoor commission, and nothing is taken from donations. Only Stripe's fees apply, for example 1.5% + €0.25 for a donation by European card, and your donors can choose to cover them. When paying, donors are also offered an optional tip for Donoor, paid on top of their donation: they can change it or remove it.
Payment through the Revolut app, very widely used in Malta: the donor confirms the donation in their app, without typing a card number. Donoor turns it on by default for Maltese associations, for one-off donations; you can turn it off in your settings. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and, if you turn it on, SEPA Direct Debit are still offered.
Yes, and it is new in Malta: with Tap to Pay, a volunteer's iPhone or Android phone accepts contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with no terminal to buy, at your feasts, matches, concerts and collections. Your association's address just needs its postcode (for example VLT 1123). Stripe's fees for a European card: 1.4% + €0.10, plus €0.10 per Tap to Pay payment. Like any donation, a Tap to Pay donation requires a checked VO number.
Not individuals: in Malta, a donation to an association gives no tax relief. A company, however, can get a tax credit of 35% of its cash donations, up to €500 a year, if your organisation is enrolled as a VO and works in social, environmental or animal welfare: the company sends its evidence to the Commissioner, who passes the list on to the tax authorities.
After every donation, Donoor automatically sends the donor the receipt required by Maltese law: in English, numbered for your organisation, with its name, address, phone number and VO number, and the date and amount of the donation. It is not a tax receipt but proof of the donation. A company can enter its name and tax number when donating: they appear on its receipt, which serves as evidence for the tax credit.
Yes: Malta's public collections regulations require the costs of online fundraising to be disclosed to the Commissioner before it starts. When you turn on your payments, Donoor gives you a ready-made text describing Stripe's fees, to send to the Commissioner. The same regulations require you to publish the purpose and duration of the collection, the organisation's name and VO number, and its administrators' contact details.
Yes, for its memberships, ticketing and shop: a parish, a religious community or a club registered only with SportMalta sells its tickets, items and membership fees with Donoor, like any association. To receive donations or open a fundraiser, it must be enrolled as a voluntary organisation (VO) with the Commissioner; a religious community can do so through a separate enrolled body, such as a foundation.
VO numbers checked against the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations' directory of voluntary organisations (cvo.gov.mt).
