Where AssoConnect charges €26–110/month depending on size (200 → 1,000+ members), Donoor remains free for as many members as you like. No surprise tiers, no commitment.
Personalised card with check-in QR code, sent by email automatically as soon as payment is made. HelloAsso does not do this. AssoConnect does, but charges for it.
Automatic annual direct debit, reminder emails 30 days before / 7 days before / 7 days after included, managed by the member. You no longer have to chase membership fees.
The AssoConnect Sérénité plan for this size is ≈ €75/month, i.e. €900/year, plus optional modules (newsletter, advanced accounting) charged separately. On Donoor, full management is free: licence, payment, member card, automatic renewal. The €1,500/year recovered funds the purchase of equipment.
For an organisation that wants to maximise its budget: Donoor is unbeatable. 100% free, unlimited, no commitment. Where AssoConnect charges €500–1,500/year, Donoor offers everything for free. Over 5 years, you save €2,500–7,500 that you can invest in your cause.
When to prefer HelloAsso: If brand recognition matters (members recognise the brand). At HelloAsso, a pre-ticked tip (5–15% by default, editable) is offered to the member at the time of payment, as on Donoor, except that Donoor never holds your funds (direct payouts via Stripe Connect or PayPal).
When to choose AssoConnect: If your organisation needs full non-profit accounting (chart of accounts, balance sheet, income statement) AND a CRM AND a website, all in one platform. Expect €500–1,500 per year. For other needs, it is oversized.
When to choose Yapla: If you are in Quebec (Yapla is a Quebec-based platform widely used across Canada) or if you need internal forum management for your organisation. For the French market, Donoor plus an external newsletter tool (free Brevo) is more cost-effective.
Donoor and HelloAsso are the only ones that are 100% free with no limits. AssoConnect and Yapla have free plans, but these are limited (payments only), with a strong incentive to move to a paid plan (€26–110/month for AssoConnect, €24–99/month for Yapla). On Donoor, membership management is free and unlimited: number of members, number of plans, number of payments, all without a cap.
AssoConnect starts at €26/month for around 200 members on the Sérénité plan, but the price rises with the number of members (up to €110/month for 1,000+). On top of this, optional modules (advanced newsletter, website, advanced accounting) are billed extra. For a growing organisation, the annual cost can exceed €1,500 per year. Compared with Donoor (€0), that is a major difference over five years.
Yapla is more flexible: its free plan already includes membership management and online payments, which is useful for getting started. But as soon as you want the CRM, newsletter or accounting, you move to €24/licence/month, and the cost climbs quickly if several people need access to the platform (each licence = around €24/month). For an organisation with more than two administrators, Donoor remains far more economical.
Donoor has a different business model: we charge the organisation NO commission and no subscription fees. We are funded by the optional tip offered to the member at the time of payment (pre-filled but editable, reducible to €0) and by optional premium services (physical donation terminals, personalised support, training). AssoConnect has chosen a classic SaaS model (subscription based on organisation size). That is their right, but it costs organisations dearly over time.
No, Donoor does not offer a full accounting module (non-profit chart of accounts, balance sheet, income statement). If you need that, AssoConnect or Yapla are better equipped. However, 90% of small and medium-sized organisations do not need this: a monthly CSV export of memberships plus free accounting software (or a volunteer accountant) is more than sufficient.
Yes, the Donoor team can support you free of charge with the migration: CSV import of your member database, configuration of plans and rates, and communication to members ahead of their next renewal. Contact us via the contact page to get started.
Donoor: if you want 100% free, unlimited and with no commitment. Ideal for amateur sports clubs that want to invest their budget in sport rather than in software. AssoConnect: if you need an advanced CRM, accounting and a budget of at least around €500 per year. Yapla: if you are strongly oriented towards Canada (Quebec-based platform) or if you want genuine non-profit accounting.
