How do I become a member of an association via Donoor?

To become a member of an association on Donoor, open the membership page it has shared with you (its address starts with donoor.org/a/), choose your membership option, fill in your details and pay online if the membership is not free. Your membership card arrives straight away by email, with its QR code.

No account is needed before you start: one is created automatically with your email address when you join. This article walks you through each step, including the case where the association must first approve your request.

Where to find an association's membership page

The association itself shares the link to its membership: on its website, its social media, by email, or as a QR code displayed on site. The address always takes the form donoor.org/a/ followed by the name of the membership. If you don't have it to hand, search for the association by name or go through its Donoor page, if it has one.

The steps of joining

The process takes four steps, shown at the top of the page:

  1. Membership: you choose your option from those on offer (for example individual, family, student), with its price, which may be a fixed amount, a pay-what-you-want price, or free membership. Any extras (kit, licence, insurance…) linked to your option are added here.
  2. Participants: if your option covers several people, add each of them. The association may also ask you additional questions (date of birth, height, or a document such as a medical certificate…): these appear at this step, and only for the options concerned.
  3. Details: you enter your personal information, including your email address, which is requested twice to avoid a typing error. If you are paying on behalf of someone else, this step separates your details from those of the payer.
  4. Summary: you check the breakdown, add a Promo code if you have one, then pay by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal, depending on what the association has enabled. If the option is free, this step confirms your registration directly, with no payment.

Good to know: an association may only ask for the information that is genuinely needed for its membership; it must not ask for more than necessary.

Straight after: your membership card

As soon as payment is accepted (or straight away if the membership is free), you receive a confirmation email with your membership card attached as a PDF. On the confirmation page, a Download my up-to-date card with QR code button also lets you get it right away.

If your option covers several people, each one receives their own card, with their own number and their own QR code; if you entered a different email address for one of them, that person receives theirs directly.

If the association must approve your request

Some memberships have the setting Requires approval: your request is then sent to the association before it is confirmed. There are two possible arrangements, depending on whether payment takes place before or after approval.

Important: a membership may also be closed (Registrations closed), limited in number (Full) or finished for the season: in these cases, the page tells you and it is no longer possible to join through this link.

Your donor account, created automatically

No prior sign-up is needed: your donor area is created automatically with the email address you gave when joining. To return to it later, open dashboard.donoor.org, enter that same email address on the Donor area screen and click Receive my sign-in link: you receive an email with a link valid for 15 minutes, with no password to remember. There you will find your membership card, your other memberships, your donations and your tickets all in one place.

For details of what the card contains and how it is checked, see how the digital membership card works. To find it again later if you have lost it, see where to find your membership certificate or card.

Tip: if you make a mistake or want to cancel your membership after paying, see how to get a refund for a donation, ticket or membership.
