How do I declare a donation to the tax authorities online?
You declare your donations in the section "Réductions et crédits d'impôt" of your online income tax return, on impots.gouv.fr, by entering the total paid during the year according to the type of beneficiary organisation: donations to organisations of general interest qualify for a 66% reduction, and those paid to organisations helping people in difficulty qualify for 75%, within a ceiling specific to that rate. Your donations are never pre-filled: it is up to you to add them each year, before you validate your return.
Before declaring, find your tax receipts
To know the exact amount to declare, first gather your tax receipts for the year. On Donoor, each eligible donation automatically generates its own receipt, sent by email at the time of payment.
If you have not kept that email, you can find all your receipts in your donor area:
- Log in to your area using the login link sent by email (there is no password): your area is created automatically after a first donation, a membership or a registration for an event.
- Open the My donations section.
- For each donation, the Tax receipt column lets you preview or download it.
Add up the amounts of all the receipts for the year concerned to obtain the total to carry over to your return. The details of this step are set out in how to obtain your tax receipt.
If a receipt is missing even though the donation was debited, this is usually because your full name or postal address had not yet been entered: both pieces of information are essential for issuing the receipt. Complete them from the confirmation page you received after payment, or from your donor area; the corresponding receipt is then generated and sent.
Where to declare your donations on impots.gouv.fr
- Log in to your personal area on impots.gouv.fr.
- Open your online income tax return.
- Go to the section Réductions et crédits d'impôt.
- Tick the box corresponding to donations and payments, then enter the total amount of your donations, broken down by type of beneficiary organisation.
Unlike your salary or certain bank income, your donations never flow automatically onto your return: the tax authority is only informed if you enter them yourself, or during an audit if you present your receipts.
Good to know: if you gave to several associations or for several causes during the year, add up the amounts by type of organisation (general interest on one side, help for people in difficulty on the other) before entering them.
Which box to use
| Type of donation | Usual box | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Donation to a general interest organisation (most associations, including religious ones) | 7UF | 66% |
| Donation to a free aid organisation for people in difficulty or victims of domestic violence | 7UD | 75%, within a limit of €2,000 of cumulative donations per year for donations made in 2026 |
For example, if you gave €50 to a cultural association and €30 to a food aid association during the year, you enter €50 in box 7UF and €30 in box 7UD: the two amounts are added together, each with its own rate.
These boxes are those used for this type of donation for several years; however, their exact wording may be adjusted from one tax campaign to the next, particularly when the ceiling changes during the year. If in doubt, the notice accompanying your return or the help page on impots.gouv.fr specifies the exact box for the current year. The details of the rates and ceilings are set out in what tax reduction for a donation, a membership fee or a purchase.
What to keep
You do not need to attach your tax receipts to your online return. Keep them nonetheless: the tax authority may ask you for them to verify your return. On Donoor, you have nothing to archive yourself: each receipt remains available in My donations for as long as your account exists, and you can download it again at any time in case of an audit. If you do not yet have a donor account, create or recover your account explains how to access it. The page Tax receipts presents how the service works in general.
