How do I make my fundraiser known and collect more donations?

To make your fundraiser known, share its link and its QR code wherever your community is, display them at your events, and regularly post updates that show how the project is progressing. A fundraiser that stays alive over time, with real news and thank-yous, makes people more inclined to take part than a single launch announcement.

You will find all these sharing tools on your fundraiser's page, once it has been created and published online.

At the bottom of your fundraiser's menu, two buttons are enough to spread it. Copy puts your fundraiser's address (in the format donoor.org/c/…) on your clipboard, ready to paste into a message or an email. Share opens WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Telegram, Messenger, a text message or an email directly, with the link already prepared to send.

The same panel offers a QR code specific to your fundraiser. Click Print a poster to get a version ready to stick up in your premises or at your events, or Save the image to reuse it elsewhere (newsletter, flyer…). To go further on this subject, read How do I create and use donation QR codes?

Share it on social media

Paste your fundraiser's link into a post in a Facebook group: the fundraiser's title and photo appear automatically, with nothing else to add. In an Instagram story, add the "Link" sticker with your fundraiser's address: your followers can donate with a single tap, without leaving the app. The same link also works as it is in a WhatsApp message, an email to your contact list or a newsletter: it opens your fundraiser's page directly, on phone and computer alike.

Embed the fundraiser on your website

From the sharing panel, Embed on my site displays your fundraiser directly on your website, in card format (photo, progress gauge and donate button). Add your website's address under Allowed domains, choose your platform (WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Webflow…) and copy the code provided into your page.

Good to know: the widget embedded on your website displays a small "Powered by Donoor" notice.

Tell your project's story and thank your donors

A fundraiser that gives regular news stays alive for longer than a static page. From your fundraiser's settings:

  • Publish Updates at each important stage (first donations, halfway point, start of works): an optional title, a message and up to 5 images.
  • Write A word from the association: a manager speaks directly to donors, with their name, role and photo.
  • Add up to 4 Impact amounts cards (for example "£25 = one food parcel") to show concretely what each donation makes possible.

The details of these settings are explained in the training Personalise your fundraiser.

Tip: ask your members and volunteers to donate first. A fundraiser that already shows donations inspires confidence in the donors who follow.

A typical communication schedule

A fundraiser should be shared several times over its lifetime, not just at launch: each reminder brings in new donations, and giving an up-to-date figure (amount collected, percentage reached, what is still needed) makes each message more concrete. Here is a typical four-week schedule, to adapt to the length of yours.

WhenWhatWhere
D-7Inform the board and volunteers, ask them to donate firstMeeting, WhatsApp group
Launch dayOfficial announcement with the link and a photoSocial media, email, WhatsApp

Messages to prepare in advance

  • The launch announcement: three or four sentences, with the link.
  • A short reminder, with an up-to-date figure (amount collected, percentage reached, still to collect).
  • The message for the final days, to remind people of the remaining target.
  • The thank-you message, with the final result.
