How do I create a membership campaign?
You create a membership campaign from your dashboard, in the Memberships menu, then New membership: three questions are enough to create it (its name, its rate, its duration), and then you complete the rest at your own pace from its management page.
As long as you don't activate it, it stays as a draft and nobody can see it. And a single membership can perfectly well offer several rates: standard, reduced, family… the member chooses theirs on one and the same form.
Creating the membership in four steps
In the menu, click Memberships, then New membership. A short process guides you:
- Name: give it a Membership name, for example "Annual membership 2026". Its public link will be donoor.org/a/votre-adhesion.
- Rate: choose Fixed amount, Free or Pay what you want (the member then chooses their amount, starting from a minimum you set). You can add other rates later.
- Duration: Duration lasts one year by default from each member's sign-up date; Fixed dates gives everyone the same end date, handy for a sports season; No limit means the membership never expires.
- Presentation, optional: an image and a description. You can click Skip and add it later.
Click Create the membership: it is saved as a draft, and its management page opens so you can complete it.
Rates, options and form
Can I offer several membership rates?
Yes. In the Rates section of the management page, add as many rates as you need: standard rate, reduced rate (student, senior, jobseeker), family package, junior or senior licence… Each rate has its own amount, its own duration and can have its own options. Members find them all on the same form and choose the one that suits them.
In Options, offer a paid or free extra: jersey, insurance, equipment… By default, an option is offered on all rates, but you can reserve it for some of them. In Form, ask your own questions (text, date, choice, yes or no, address, or a document to attach such as a medical certificate); first name, surname and email are already requested by default.
Tip: only ask for information that is genuinely useful. It is a GDPR requirement, and a short form gets filled in to the end.
Setting the campaign parameters
In the Parameters section of the management page, several settings adapt the membership to your association:
| Parameter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Private membership | The membership does not appear in donoor.org's listings or searches; only people who have the link can join. |
| Limit the total number of members | Sets a maximum number of members, across all rates. |
| Automatic proration | Reduces the price for a member who joins mid-season, according to the time left until the end of the membership (by day, by month, or by steps you define). |
| Requires approval | Each registration must be validated before payment: the future member sees a "Send my request" button rather than a direct payment. |
| Tax deduction | Offers a tax receipt on the subscription, if your association's tax receipt service is activated. |
For tax deduction, not all subscriptions are eligible: read can a tax receipt be issued for a subscription. And to build a compliant form, see how Donoor protects the data of the association and its donors.
Going live and sharing
From the membership's status button, which shows Draft, click Activate: it becomes visible and registrations open. Then share its link by email, by WhatsApp, on social networks, as a QR code, or embedded on your website.
The future member chooses their rate, fills in their details, ticks their options, answers your questions, enters any promo code, then pays by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal. They immediately receive their membership card by email. For what comes next — validating requests, tracking your members, managing cards — see how to track and validate your members' memberships.
Starting again from one season to the next
For a new season, it is better to duplicate your existing membership than to recreate it from scratch. From its status button, Duplicate copies all rates, options, promo codes and form questions into a new membership, saved as a draft with a new link. You can then adjust its dates and amounts before activating it.
Good to know: duplicating does not copy your members. That is normal: renewing a member who has already joined is a separate matter, covered in how membership renewal works.
Key takeaways
- Three questions are enough to create the membership: its name, its rate, its duration. It stays as a draft until you activate it.
- A single membership can offer several rates, each with its own options, on one form.
- You can require approval before payment, limit the number of members, or enable automatic proration for registrations made mid-season.
- Donoor takes no commission on subscriptions: only the payment provider's fees apply, and every payment is detailed in your dashboard.
- For a new season, duplicate the membership rather than recreating it.
