Which notifications does the association receive (donations, ticket sales, memberships)?
Yes, if you wish. From Settings › Notifications, your association chooses, category by category, what it receives by email and what it receives as a push notification on the mobile app: a new donation, a ticket sold, a membership paid, a monthly donation cancelled, and many other events. A few important alerts, such as a dispute or an account suspension, are always sent, even if you have switched everything else off.
Where to adjust your notifications
- Open Settings › Notifications in your dashboard.
- Notifications are grouped into ten categories, collapsed by default: click a category to open it.
- Each category has two master switches, Email and Push, which turn on or off all the types in that category for that channel.
- Open the details to adjust each type one by one: some you may want by email but not by push, or the other way round.
- Click Save in the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen as soon as you have changed a setting.
The Getting Started course describes this page in detail in its module Choosing your notifications.
A practical example: setting up the Donations category
To receive a notification for each donation, but only by push and without email:
- In Settings › Notifications, click the Donations category to open it.
- Leave the master Email switch off for the whole category.
- Turn on the master Push switch, or turn on individually the types you are interested in: New donation received, Large donation, Fundraising milestone reached.
- Do the same for the other categories that concern you, such as Events for ticket sales or Memberships for new memberships.
- Click Save in the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen.
The ten notification categories
Here are the categories available, with some examples of what they cover:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Donations | New donation received, large donation, fundraising milestone reached |
| Subscriptions | New recurring donation, recurring donation cancelled, failed direct debit |
| Memberships | New membership paid, new membership request, membership top-up paid |
| Events | New ticket sold, ticket refund |
| Refunds | Refund request for a donation, a ticket or a membership |
| Tax receipts | Service activation, request approved or refused, reminder before a deadline |
| Payment account | Stripe or PayPal verification in progress, payments enabled, payouts suspended or reinstated |
| Disputes & security | PayPal dispute opened or resolved, alert before a dispute |
| Monitoring | Document request, restriction applied or lifted, account suspension |
| Support | Donoor team reply to a message sent to support |
Good to know: the Tax receipts category only appears for French associations eligible for tax receipts.
Email and push: two channels, two recipients
An email and a push notification do not necessarily go to the same people:
| Push | ||
|---|---|---|
| Who receives it | One address only: your association's contact address if you have entered one, otherwise that of the owner or an administrator | All team members signed in to the mobile app for this association |
| Setting | Email switch, category by category or type by type | Push switch, category by category or type by type |
For example, you can keep donation emails for your treasurer while sending a push notification to the whole team for every donation received. For your volunteers to receive these push notifications, invite them to your association's team: see How do I invite my team members and manage their permissions?
Alerts that are always sent
Some notifications carry an Always sent badge with a padlock icon, in place of the switches: they cannot be turned off, on either channel. They protect your association from a dangerous interruption it would otherwise discover too late. This applies, for example, to payments being enabled, Stripe payouts suspended or reinstated, a PayPal account being activated, a dispute opened, a request for documents, a restriction applied or lifted, or an account suspension. Suspended or reinstated payouts are precisely what explains a delay in payment: see When do I receive donations?
Important: these alerts are not marketing notifications you could miss without consequence: they often signal a block on your payments or a deadline you need to meet.
Adjusting your notifications from the mobile app
The Donoor mobile app offers the same Notifications settings, directly in its Settings: you do not need to open the dashboard on a computer to adjust them. For everything the app allows, see What can I do with the Donoor mobile app?
