Is Donoor really free?

Yes, Donoor is completely free for associations: no subscription, no sign-up fee and, most importantly, no commission on what you collect, whether through donations, memberships, tickets or shop sales. The only cost that may apply is that of your payment provider, Stripe or PayPal, and your donor or buyer can choose to cover it so that your association receives the full amount.

This page explains what is free, what these bank fees really are, and how Donoor is funded without ever taking anything from your collections.

No commission, on any type of collection

Whether your association receives donations, sells tickets for an event, offers memberships or runs an online shop, the principle is the same: Donoor keeps nothing from what your donors, participants or buyers pay. All the money collected, minus any bank fees, goes to your association. Tax receipts, QR codes, the dashboard and Donoor's other features are included, with no additional paid tier. For a full overview, see the page Why it's free.

Does Donoor take a commission on ticket sales?

No. When your association sells tickets for an event, Donoor does not take any commission on the ticket price. As with a donation, only the payment provider's fees apply, and the buyer can choose to cover them at the time of payment so that your association receives the full ticket price.

Does Donoor take a commission on memberships?

No, not on memberships either. A membership fee follows the same rule: no Donoor commission, only the bank fees of the chosen provider, which the member can also cover when paying their subscription.

The only possible cost: your payment provider's fees

Stripe and PayPal, like any bank or card terminal, charge processing fees on every card payment. These fees exist with any provider, whichever platform you use to collect: Donoor adds none on top. The exact amount of these fees for each payment is visible in your dashboard, donation by donation, in the Donation details record. To understand this fully, read transaction fees.

When paying, your donor can tick Cover Stripe fees or Cover PayPal fees depending on the provider used: the association then receives 100% of the donation. This box is ticked by default, and about 4 donors out of 5 leave it ticked. The details of this option are explained in can donors cover the fees.

How Donoor is funded, if nothing is paid by you

Donoor is funded by voluntary support from donors. When paying, a separate option, Support Donoor, lets your donor add a free contribution for the platform, which can be edited and can be set to €0. This contribution has nothing to do with bank fees: it funds Donoor, not your association, and it never appears in the financial details your association consults.

Good to know: do not confuse the two options presented to the donor at checkout. Cover fees offsets bank fees and goes to your association. Support Donoor is a separate donation to the platform itself: it never appears in your association's accounts.

Important: if a donor does not cover the fees, they are simply deducted from the amount paid to your association, like any card payment. It is never a Donoor commission. Once the fees have been deducted, the remainder follows its own payout schedule, detailed in when do I receive donations.
