How do tax receipts work?
Once the service is activated, Donoor automatically generates a tax receipt for each eligible donation and emails it to the donor straight after payment. There is no separate annual statement: each donation triggers its own receipt, compliant with the official Cerfa form no. 11580*05, which entitles the donor to a 66% tax reduction.
Your association has nothing to generate or send by hand. If the service is not yet activated for you, start by activating it: this article describes what happens once it is in place.
An automatic receipt after each eligible donation
Two conditions must be met for a donation to trigger a receipt:
- the donation must be marked as tax-deductible for the relevant fundraising (see below);
- the donor must have entered their full name and address. Without this information, no receipt is issued: the thank-you page and the confirmation email invite the donor to complete it, after which the receipt is sent to them.
An event ticket, a membership fee or a shop purchase does not entitle the donor to a receipt: only a donation with nothing given in return does. If you have declared an event or a membership rate as tax-deductible, only the amount given over and above the price appears on the receipt. See the case of membership fees and tickets.
And for a monthly donation, a receipt each month?
Yes. A recurring donation is not treated any differently from a one-off donation: each monthly collection is a separate donation in its own right, which triggers its own receipt as soon as it is collected. A donor who has given for a year therefore accumulates twelve receipts, one per month, all retrievable from their donor area.
Making a fundraising tax-deductible
On a payment link, open the Your payment link card, then Options: the Tax deduction option displays the "66% tax-deductible" banner on the donation page. On a fundraiser, the Tax-deductible option in its Settings is switched on automatically once the service is active; the interface makes this clear: "Donors will receive a tax receipt". The Making your donations tax-deductible training shows these settings in a video.
Tip: keep these options switched on. They simply let the donor know they can claim tax relief on their donation, which encourages people to give more, at no cost to your association.
What the receipt contains
Each receipt follows the Cerfa form no. 11580*05: your association's identity (name, address, RNA or SIREN number), the amount of the donation in figures and in words, the date and payment method, the reference to Article 200 of the French General Tax Code, a unique sequential number, and the signature of the person who signed the tax receipts mandate. The details of these entries, and what you can customise, are explained in are the tax receipts compliant?
Good to know: the amount shown on the receipt is the amount actually paid to your association, including any payment fees the donor has chosen to cover, but excluding the voluntary contribution to Donoor, which is never passed on to you. Example: a £10 donation, with £0.50 of fees covered and £2 of support for Donoor, charges the donor £12.50 for a receipt of £10.50. See also donors covering the fees.
| One-off donation | Monthly (recurring) donation | |
|---|---|---|
| Number of receipts | One, for this donation | One per collection, so one per month |
| When it is sent | Straight after payment | Straight after each collection |
| Where the donor finds it | My donations, in their donor area | My donations, in their donor area |
How long are receipts kept?
By signing the tax receipts mandate, your association entrusts Donoor with generating and sending receipts on its behalf. Donoor undertakes to keep every receipt issued for ten years on a secure medium, and to maintain a numbered, continuous register of receipts, per association and per tax year.
On the donor side, there is no period to keep track of: each receipt remains available in My donations for as long as their account exists; see how the donor retrieves their receipt. On the association side, your donation history remains viewable under Fundraising › Donations.
Important: Donoor acts solely as a technical service provider for generating and sending receipts. Your association remains solely responsible for its eligibility for the patronage tax regime and for the accuracy of the information appearing on each receipt.
